Locally Led

Capable is Ugandan-led. We work within our own communities and it’s proven the key to our success.

Community Leadership

The agronomists, business mentors, and counselors who teach our two-year intensive curriculum understand the cultural nuances of our communities, and we bring intense commitment to ensuring durable outcomes for our graduates.

I didn’t think it was possible to graduate communities out of poverty in two years until I visited Capable’s work in Northern Uganda. Holistic transformation was evident in every group, but the most remarkable change was the mindset shift — from recipients to enablers who lift their entire communities.”

Graduate-Owned Co-Ops

Capable clients become successful commercial farmers as they are trained in regenerative agriculture through our two-year program. After graduating, they become entrepreneurs, business owners, and investors, helping others in our communities exit extreme poverty. These positive outcomes compound and spread over time. The Ugandan-led co-ops owned by Capable graduates have lifted thousands of additional community members out of extreme poverty.

Graduate Testimonials

Capable owiny bosco

Other programs come, give small money, and go. Capable is different. They gave us knowledge first — how to plan, save, and work as a family. They follow up every week to see our progress. Because of that, I built my house and can send my children to school. I know I will not need another NGO again.”

Capable’s people are close to us. They sit in our homes and listen. Because of that, I trust them. Before, I used to depend on handouts, but now I know how to grow on my own. Our group has savings, animals, and unity. Even when the program ends and we graduate, we will continue.”

When Capable came, my life changed from inside. I stopped drinking, started farming seriously, and my home became peaceful. They teach about everything — hygiene, saving, relationships — not just business. Now I’m respected in my village, and I help others who want to change too.”
