Successfully fighting extreme poverty means understanding the unique challenges facing each Capable client. We gather continuous feedback from every client to achieve success.
Durable Results
Our Feedback Loop Becomes Our Success Loop
We continuously gather the feedback of every participant to make sure everyone stays on track to achieve success. By establishing the highest standard for measuring our outcomes, we operate with the highest efficiency in reaching them.
Our Feedback Loop In Action
1. Selecting a New Capable Cohort
We work in collaboration with the local government and faculty from Northern Uganda’s Gulu University to conduct broad surveys across the most in-need and difficult-to-reach areas of Northern Uganda, many of which are still recovering from decades of violent conflict, and prioritize the communities who would benefit most from our program.
2. Setting the Baseline for Success
To begin the program, we document the key measures of success for every student, establishing baselines for current income and savings, as well as holistic measures of physical health, spiritual well-being, and personal agency, so that we can accurately measure change throughout the program.
3. Program Agility
We provide clients tailored educational, relational, and financial support to ensure a sustained exit from extreme poverty. By documenting each client’s progress in our case management system, we are guided by evidence-based data that drives successful outcomes in real-time, while also guiding our program’s future strategic expansion and evolution. Additionally, our GPS crop mapping enables us to optimize the use of financial resources for the maximum impact in our communities.
4. Ensuring Durable Results
We validate our program’s long-term impact with independent researchers from Uganda-based Gulu University. They rigorously assess our results for a minimum of five years after graduation and verify our clients’ permanent exit from extreme poverty. The data is clear: five years after graduating, Capable clients saw a 137% increase in income and maintain a standard of living above the extreme poverty line. This sustained economic success is powered by our client-owned farming cooperatives, which become the primary engine for wider community development.
