The real test is time. Five years after graduation, clients continue to increase their income.
Durable Results
Our Feedback Loop Becomes Our Success Loop
We gather continuous feedback from every client to ensure they stay on track throughout the program. By establishing the highest standard for measuring our outcomes, we operate with the highest efficiency in reaching them.
Our Feedback Loop In Action
1. Selecting a New Capable Cohort
We work in collaboration with the local government and faculty from Northern Uganda’s Gulu University to conduct broad surveys across the most in-need and difficult-to-reach areas of Northern Uganda, many are still recovering from decades of violent conflict. We prioritize the communities who would benefit most from our program.
2. Setting the Baseline for Success
At the start, we document baseline measures for every client: income, net-worth, savings, physical health, spiritual well-being, and personal agency. This allows us to accurately track progress and measure change throughout their two-year journey.
3. Program Agility
We provide tailored educational, relational, and financial support to each client. Our case management system and GPS crop mapping track progress in real-time, allowing us to adapt quickly, optimize resource allocation, and ensure sustained exits from extreme poverty. Our monitoring and evaluation system is integrated into our operations and this data guides our program’s future strategic expansion and evolution.
4. Ensuring Durable Results
Independent experts from Uganda’s National Agricultural Research Organization (NARO) and Gulu University, an all-Ugandan team of PhDs, rigorously assess our results, measuring outcomes for five years post-graduation to verify permanent exits from extreme poverty. The data is clear: five years after graduating, clients maintain a 137% increase from their graduation income, earning over $5 per household member per day, nearly double the extreme poverty line. Client-owned cooperatives are the engine behind this sustained success. Our 2018 cohort cooperatives have grown by 180%, welcoming hundreds of new members who exit extreme poverty alongside original graduates, creating lasting economic transformation across Northern Uganda.
